How to convert QBO to CSV
- Drop your .qbo file (or .ofx / .qfx) in the box above.
- Check the transactions in the preview.
- Choose the date layout and whether you want one Amount column or separate Debit and Credit columns.
- Download the CSV and open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
Why convert a QBO file to CSV?
A QBO file is made for QuickBooks, so it does not open as a table in Excel. Converting it to CSV lets you review transactions, send them to a client or accountant, or import them into an app that only accepts CSV.
The same tool also reads OFX and QFX files, since they use the same structure.
Tips for a clean import
- Choose year-month-day dates if you will sort or filter by date. Excel reads that layout the same way in every country.
- Choose separate Debit and Credit columns if you plan to import the CSV into an app that expects them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a QBO file without QuickBooks?
Yes. Convert it to CSV here and open it in any spreadsheet app. You can also open it in a text editor, but the raw OFX tags are hard to read.
Does it work with OFX and QFX files too?
Yes. Drop any .qbo, .qfx or .ofx file. Both the older SGML version and the newer XML version are supported.
Which columns are in the CSV?
Date, Description, Amount (or Debit and Credit), Memo and Check Number.
Is it free?
Yes. The CSV, QIF, OFX and QBO converters are free with no sign-up and no limit on the number of transactions, because they run on your own computer. Our only paid tool is the PDF statement converter, which needs a server to read PDF files.
Is my bank data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser. Your file is never sent to our server, and we cannot see it. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works.
